March Full of Amazing Celestial Combinations

Mars and Venus have offered quite a beautiful show to skygazers in February this year. Now in March, it seems that the show will carry on.

Experts said that Jupiter and some other celestial objects will also join the show and will be providing a stunning sky gazing experience to sky watchers.

Jupiter, the biggest planet of our solar system, and which is the fifth planet from the sun, will come directly opposite to the sun during the event.

This event is also referred to as ‘Jupiter at opposition’ and such an event happen once every 13 months, said experts.

This year’s Jupiter at opposition is of much attention because according to experts, 2015’s event will be the closest and the same situation will not be seen until 2019. The next Jupiter at opposition will be held on March 8, 2016.

As per astronomy experts, on several February evenings, Jupiter was visible in the sky. Jupiter is not as bright as Venus but still it will be visible to the naked eye. Jupiter will be seen as a bright object at nightfall and will be visible throughout the night.

A good pair of binoculars or medium telescope can also prove to be helpful for viewers to get the glimpse of the planet’s moon and band of clouds that surrounds the planet. Jupiter has four stars namely Callisto, Europa, Ganymede and Io, which are all named after Galileo, who discovered them in 1610.

Soon after the sunset, the sky gazers can watch Venus in the west and Jupiter in the east of the sky. Sky gazers will be able to watch the planets close to the moon from March 1 through March 3, said experts.
