LinkedIn Corp revamps mobile apps
Professional networking major, LinkedIn Corp has launched revamped versions of its mobile apps for different platforms on Wednesday.
The new apps will focus more on stream of information shared by its users and will also allow the company to show ads to smartphone users for the first time. LinkedIn spokeswoman Julie Inouye said that the site will now start showing advertisements within the mobile app's news stream as small texts to the users.
The company is offering the new apps for both the Apple Inc iPhone and for Android smartphones. It will allow the users to easily interact content in LinkedIn's news stream and liking and commenting would become easier to access. The company noted that more than a fourth of its total users now access the site from mobile app compared to 15 per cent in the previous year. The application can be downloaded on user's Android mobile phones and iPhones and will be available in 15 languages.
The company has been releasing a series of new features and improvements on the site as it encourages users to spend more time on the site. The network has more than 200 million professional members around the world.
