Lilavati To Set Up Another 300-Bed Hospital In Mumbai

Medical care provider Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre has decided to Lilavati Hospitalestablish another 300-bedded hospital in Mumbai with a total investment of Rs 200 crore, which will be funded through internal accruals.

The construction work at the upcoming hospital is scheduled to begin by the end of this existing year (2008).

Mr. Narendra Trivedi, Lilavati Hospital Vice-President, said, “To mark the 10th anniversary of Lilavati Hospital, we are planning to set up a second hospital and a diagnostic centre in Mumbai.”

Lilavati Hospital is run by the family trust and has the capacity of about 300 beds.

“The cost of the project to be approximately Rs 200 crore but it can vary depending upon the cost of the land and also according to the type of equipments installed there,” Mr. Trivedi added.

Presently, the hospital management is looking for land in western and eastern suburbs of the city.

Mr. Trivedi, who is in New Delhi to receive the most “The Trusted Brand” award given to the hospital by Reader’s Digest and India Today, stated that the hospital has also houses an internal telemedicine facility through which doctors can be consulted even at their residences.

Lilavati Hospital has tied up with state-owned ONGC for the purpose and would provide telemedicine facilities to the medical centre located near rigs, he also said.
