LG unveils LTE- and NFC-compatible Optimus GSubstantiating rumors and speculations which have been making rounds for weeks, LG had finally taken the wraps off its new flagship smartphone - the LTE- and NFC-compatible Optimus G.

The newly-unveiled next-generation smartphone from LG boasts some extremely appealing features, including a 4.7-inch "TrueHD IPS+" LCD display with 1,280 x 768 resolution; a new 1.5GHZ Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor; 2GB of RAM; 32GB on-board storage; a 13-megapixel back camera; and a 1.3-megapixel front camera.

Powered by the Android OS 4.0 `Ice Cream Sandwich' version, the new LG Optimus G - scheduled to hit South Korean retailers next week with a worldwide launch slated for October - has an inserted 2,100mAh battery, the lifespan of which is comparatively much longer than the other present-day batteries --- 800 cycles against 500 cycles, to be precise.

With one of the key attractions of the Optimus G being its new picture-in-picture mode - known as "QSlide" - that facilitates the simultaneous display of two screens, LG has also revealed that the new flagship handset is capable of reaping the benefits of "cross-tasking" --- that is, the ability of completing a number of complex tasks concurrently, without having any adverse effect on the other tasks.

According to a press release by LG, some of the functions where the Optimus G's "cross-tasking" capability will be useful include Live Zooming; Dual Screen Dual Play; QuickMemo; Screem Zooming; Application Link; and Icon Personalizer.
