Krejza in shock fitness failure

Krejza fails fitness test in TasmaniaSydney, Dec. 6 : Australian off-spinner Jason Krejza has failed a fitness test for Tasmania, putting a cloud over his chances of playing in the Perth Test against South Africa.

Krejza avoided the media as he hurried off the Bellerive Oval this morning after failing the test, telling team management to tell reporters he had gone home as he left the field for treatment and to re-fit an ankle brace.

Australia''s first Test against South Africa in Perth is less than two weeks away, starting on December 17.

Tigers coach Tim Coyle was left to do the talking, informing reporters that Krejza "is not going to play tomorrow".

Coyle put his spin on the injury after saying on Thursday Krejza would be available for Sunday''s domestic one-day game against NSW in Hobart.

"I wouldn''t call it a setback, I''d call it a progression in fact," news. com. au quoted Coyle, as saying.

"He''s very close to playing. If this was a four-day game he''d be playing because he could stand in the slips, he''s not needed to run around as much. The intensity of the fielding effort in one-day cricket is the only thing we had a question mark on," he added.

Coyle says he now expects Krejza to 100 per cent fit for Tasmania''s one-day game against South Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday.

Krejza''s movement bowling and batting was fine but his lateral movement fielding was the problem, Coyle said. (ANI)
