Dehradun, Jan. 26  : Anti-graft activist Arvind Kejriwal has dared industrialist Mukesh Ambani to serve a defamation notice to him and his colleague, Prashan Bhushan.

Last year, Arvind Kejriwal and his colleague Prashant Bhushan accused the Reliance Industries honcho of hoarding natural gas, exerting pressure on the government to favour his businesses and for profiting from cosy relationships with a string of government ministers.

Kejriwal reiterated his claim that Mukesh Ambani has Swiss banks accounts that contained one billion rupees in black money.

Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has shot off a letter to Ambani asking him to issue defamation notices to him and lawyer Prashant Bhushan.

"You have sent defamation notice to all these channels. I have failed to understand, if you have been defamed by me and Prashant Bhushan's statements, then I and Prashant Bhushan are the biggest culprits. You should send that notice to us. The television channels only broadcast it," said Kejriwal in Dehradun.

He also urged the channels to make the defamation notice and its response public.

"We urge all the television (news) channels that they should make the notice public, if they have received, and response to it. The people of this country will support the television channels and the media," Kejriwal said.

He also hit out at former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari for threatening the income tax officials who had raided his Purti Group companies.

"If he has not committed any crime, he would get clean chit. But his open threats reflect that Nitin Gadkari doesn't have faith in the country's democracy," Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal, whose group India Against Corruption (IAC) has won publicity in India, has also accused ruling Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi''s son in law Robert Vadra, Nitin Gadkari and foreign minister Salman Khurshid of taking part in shady dealings.

Kejriwal stressed that the defamation notice sent to news channel was a bid to stifle the voice of the media. (ANI)
