Kazakhstan calls for “unbiased and balanced” solution to Russia-Georgia conflict

Russia, GeorgiaAstana, Aug. 22 : Kazakhstan has called for an “unbiased and balanced” solution to Russia-Georgia conflict.

In a statement issued here by the Kazakh foreign office, the Kazakh Government described the stand-off as an “ethno-territorial issue, and urged all involved parties to treat the humanitarian disaster with the help of international laws.

It welcomed the arrangements reached by the presidents of Russia, France, Georgia, as well as the arrangements reached by the leaderships of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

It endorsed the Russian leadership’s proposals for resolving the issue within the framework of the U. N. Charter, the Helsinki Final Act of 1975 and the international pacts of
1966 and other international laws.

It also called for an increase in the number of OSCE observers in the conflict zone and called on these observers to play a more active role. (ANI)
