Karnataka To Transfer Bidadi Land To DLF Soon

DLFKarnataka, which recently granted the Bidadi Knowledge City project on Bangalore’s outer boundaries to real estate firm DLF, will hand over the land in a few months.

The Karnataka’s administration top functionary said that the route of acquiring the land for the project is nearing closing. The project demands 9,187 acres of land. A big part of this is already under the state government whereas the resting share is being purchased.

M N Vidyashankar, Karnataka's IT/BT/S&T Secretary, said, “We expect certain formalities to be completed in the coming days. The land will be handed over to DLF in two months. We expect the project to attract investments in IT/ITeS industries in a large way.”

As per the government opinion, investments worth Rs 60,000 crore are projected to be made once the project is complete.

While addressing the opening session of the ‘Embedded Systems Conference India 2007’, Vidyashankar stated that the administration has planned to establish 14 SEZs within the Knowledge City.

“The SEZs will be sector specific. There will be SEZs for IT/ITeS, semiconductors, embedded systems, chip design houses and various industry bodies,” he added.

In an effort to colligate the Knowledge City with the approaching Bangalore International Airport, the state administration has planned to build up a six-lane 36 kilometre long arterial highway.

“The government is in the process of issuing tenders to develop this expressway. We expect it to be ready within 18 months from the date of commencement,” Vidyashankar added.
