Jobs market records growth in Scotland, survey
According to a new survey, the jobs market in Scotland has recorded a growth in the number of people getting permanent jobs during the month of July.
The survey conducted by the Bank of Scotland also said that there was an increase in vacancies for both permanent and temporary jobs during the month of July. The report showed that the growth in permanent job placement was the highest in the month since the survey began a decade earlier. The growth indicates that the jobs market is recording a strong growth in Scotland.
The Bank of Scotland Labour Market Barometer, which is a widely accepted indicator of the jobs market in Scotland, stood at 60.5, which is higher than the 58.5 for the entire United Kingdom. A figure of more than 50 suggests expansion. The figure of 60.5 was the highest recorded since September 2007 and was higher than 58.5 recorded in the month of June.
The report said, "The improvement in Scotland's labour market corresponded with a similar marked rise for the UK as a whole. The equivalent UK index posted 58.5 in July, up from 55.4 in June, and signalled the strongest improvement since October 2007."
