JLR’s entry-level models to drive volumes  While the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the luxury car brands owned by Tata Motors has been out of reach of many of the consumers because of the hefty price tags that they come with, but the company is now planning to come up with a slew of entry-level cars including a station wagon and a roadster to boost volumes across markets.

In fact, industry watchers are of a view that the entry-level models for these brands will be a long-term boon as it will be able to bring high volumes to the door of the company. It may be recalled here that JLR are the brands that Tata Motors bought in 2008 from Ford Motor for $2.3 billion.

It is to be mentioned here that the company’s chairman, Ratan Tata said at the 65th annual general meeting of the company that the JLR brands has vindicated his confidence.

On the other end, the company is planning to launch more version of the Nano for the Indian consumer which will include options like a diesel, an electric and a Nano with a bigger engine. It is expected that a part of these will also be used for exports by the company.
