JKLF leader Shabir Choudhry welcomes unity talks

Dr Shabir Choudhry, Chairman JKLF Diplomatic CommitteeLondon, dec. 14: Dr Shabir Choudhry, Chairman JKLF Diplomatic Committee, has welcomed the dissolution of Yasin Malik’s JKLF group in UK, and praised Sabir Ansari for taking this daring decision.

He said, the decision might be painful to some people but I believe it was done in sincerity and the sole purpose was to unite the party on new lines that we can all play a leading role in the Kashmiri struggle.

Dr Shabir Choudhry requested the leaders of the deceased group to show maturity and sense of responsibility and accept this decision for the larger good of the party and the movement. He said individual interest and ego should not over rule the party interest and the national interest. He said there are many people who commercialised the parties and the Kashmiri struggle for the sake of their petty interests and small ‘shops’ and ‘huts’.

Dr Shabir Choudhry said, all sincere workers of the nationalist movement should support this move, and urge the leadership to bury their differences and unite in the name of national cause.

He said Amanullah Khan and Yasin Malik are big leaders of the nationalist movement, especially JKLF groups. It is their responsibility to support this move and bury their ego and unite on one platform. He said Amanullah Khan, in his old age must do something positive for the movement, and leave behind a united party. If these leaders cannot overcome their personal differences and work out power sharing strategy then people have right to ask if they are suitable to lead the party and the movement.

Dr Shabir Choudhry said our JKLF has always supported unity, but is not prepared to say good- bye to fundamental principles of the JKLF and ideology of the party. He said we should invite all like-minded people to form a united party, and not be coerced in to some kind of unity if there are clear ideological differences.

He said ‘How can sincere members of the party join hands with those who only want to liberate Kashmir occupied by India, and close their lips when issue of Gilgit and Baltistan is under discussion or issue related to rights of people of Azad Kashmir is debated.

He further said, our Central Committee will soon meet and take decision on this matter, but much depends on the response of deceased group’s leaders. As far as our members are concerned we have not backed out of any unity talks. (ANI)
