JFK runway facing problems
Get ready to face delays in flight timings at the JFK airport as the main runway at New York's John F. Kennedy International will be closed for four months from March 1 onwards.
The closing of the main runways will crop up delays and the same shall be borne by the major cities in the U. S., Los Angeles, San Francisco and Orlando. As one third of the air traffic and its departure shall be routed towards three smaller runways, letting the planes wait in longer queues for takeoff and landing.
The passengers shall also be feeling the heat, taking the JFK route due to the hike in ticket prices. Many airlines including JetBlue, American, Delta and other airlines have decided to cut the schedules max by 10 percent for the halt period.
JFK has the longest commercial runways in the world with a Bay at 14,572 feet. It is also the backup landing dock for the space shuttle, scheduled in April for its next mission. The closing of the runway is made due to the restructuring plans with concrete for a better future.
However, the airlines are planning to make provisions for the same. Apart from cutting the flights, they have planned to add time in their schedules. But the passengers on network carriers like Delta and American are expected to face the delays.
This shutdown will also affect the coordination in flight.
