Jaya Bachchan speaks for ‘Women’s Reservation Bill’
Samajwadi Party's MP and veteran actress, Jaya Bachchan said that Women's Reservation Bill would help the women in the Indian film industry.
According to her, the females in the industry deserve an equal representation as seldom they are given good roles in the movies. She believes that as an actress passes a certain age, the role offers to her start falling and she either has to stop working or accept the situation.
"We talk of the Women's Bill, but when it comes to reporting about women, the media is insensitive," she said. She was speaking at the Indian Women's Press Corps event on Friday.
Speaking on the issue of marriage, she said that it is not necessary for today's successful and highly independent women.
She said that she married the superstar Amitabh Bachchan because they were in love and she would not if it was not. "Had I not been in love, I would not have married," she said. Jaya was married to in 1973 and she left her career to take care of the family.
