Japan Keen to Invest in West Bengal

Kolkata: The expectations of Japanese investment for upcoming plans in the State were apparently discussed by West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Thursday.

A few State government ministers were also there to attend the conference.

Finance Minister, Asim Dasgupta alleged that the projected East-West Metro passageway, to be invested by the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation, and the financial support of the Bakreshwar thermal power plant were talked about.

Dr. Dasgupta stated that Mr. Abe was assured that West Bengal’s progression in software and Japan’s growth in hardware could be united to expand West Bengal in an incorporated manner.

Expertise was sought from the Japanese government in disaster management and solid waste management.
