IT Companies Witness a Growth by 25% in 2010-11, Claims Dataquest
India’s 200 IT giants contributed a sum of $ 84 billion (Rs 384,250 crore) in order to increase the average growth by 25% in the financial year 2010-11, which is claimed to be the highest sum incurred till now, reveals a survey.
The revenue contributed by the top 20 IT companies in the total sum comprised of $ 54 billion (Rs 247,808 crore) in 2010-11. These 20 companies also witnessed a growth of 25%, which is quiet huge in comparison to the 8% profit gained in the years 2009-10 amounting to Rs 198,017 crore.
The growth in the revenue in 2010-11 exceeded the growth rate of 24% marked in the years 2007-08, reveals the yearly research on the Indian IT industry commenced by Dataquest, the flagship journal of specialty publishers CyberMedia.
The research claimed that TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HP and Cognizant, with revenues of Rs 33,112 crore (25 % growth over last year), Rs 25,997 crore (22%), Rs 24,899 crore (13%), Rs 23,227 crore (30%) and Rs 21,393 crore (37%), were the 5 leading IT companies in India for the year. The hundred year old company IBM stood at the 6th position in the 25% growth rate. "Very rarely has a more fundamental change swept across the Indian IT industry in the past”, stated the Dataquest Editor, Shyamanuja Das.
