Israel cancels opening of Gaza border after rocket attacks

Tel Aviv/Gaza  - Israel cancelled an earlier decision to open its border crossings with Gaza to vital humanitarian supplies Wednesday after new, massive rocket fire from the strip.

A Defence Ministry spokesman said a truck convoy with basic food products and medical supplies from international non-governmental organizations, which had been scheduled to enter Gaza Wednesday via Israel, would not be allowed in.

Palestinian militants fired at least 12 rockets and mortar shells at Israel overnight and early Wednesday, a military spokesman said, five days after a six-month truce formally ended, and after a relative lull in the fire earlier this week. (dpa)
