Infosys to recruit 13,000 Freshers from the Campuses

infosysInfosys Technologies, India's second largest information technology services company, has planned to hire 13,000 freshers, from the college campuses for 2010-11 period. Though the number of engineering colleges it visits every year for campus recruitment is expected to decrease by 50% as compared with the year 2007.

The Senior VP and Group Head for HR, Nandita Gurjar has informed that the company is going for the campus placements as the conversion rate, which is the number of people who get offers and finally join the company, in the last two years has improved dramatically.

The company used to visit 1,050 engineering colleges for campus recruitments, till the year 2008, which has been dropped to 700 in the year 2008. It is again expected to decrease to 500 or 550 this year.

Infosys Board Member and Head of Human Resources, Mr. T. V. Mohandas Pai has informed that the company has planned to hire around 20,000 employees, which is more by 2000 than the earlier announcement. And around 7000 will be hired through the lateral entry.

According to the Dow Jones, Infosys is expected to appoint the new CEO for its BPO unit by January 2010. The Current CEO, Mr. Amitabh Chaudhry submitted his resignation on November 23. For now, he is working as acting Chief in the company.
