Indonesia says 2002 Bali bombers to be executed in November
Jakarta, Oct 24 : The three Islamic militants convicted of the 2002 Bali bombings will be executed in early November.
According to news. com. au, a spokesman for Indonesia''s Attorney General''s office said they would be shot dead in their prison on Nusakambangan Island, off Central Java, where their high-security jail is located.
The spokesman also indicated that the Attorney General did not believe there were valid grounds for any further legal appeals by the three convicted - Amrozi, his brother Mukhlas and Imam Samudra.
Meanwhile, their defence lawyers are still planning ways to stall their executions.
Earlier this week, Indonesia''s Constitutional Court rejected a side challenge by the bombers, who claimed that death by firing squad was unconstitutional and amounted to torture.
Their contention was that such death was cruel and inhumane because they may not die immediately.
However, the court reaffirmed the method of execution used in Indonesia, saying no execution method could be guaranteed to be pain-free.
The three convicts were sentenced to die for playing lead roles in the 2002 Bali nightclub bombings, which left 202 people dead. (ANI)
