Indian rupee rises by 2 paise to Rs 51.93/94 per US dollar

Indian rupee rises by 2 paise to Rs 51.93/94 per US dollar The Indian national currency has risen by 2 paise at Rs 51.93/94 per US dollar in the morning trade on Tuesday following small selling of dollars by banks and exporters.

The partially convertible rupee resumed lower at Rs 51.98/99 per dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange compared to the earlier close of Rs 51.95/96 per dollar and was trading in the range of between Rs 51.88 and Rs 52.05 per dollar before reaching Rs 51.93/94.

The sales of dollars by banks and exporters following dollar weakness in global markets released pressure on the Indian rupee. The rupee also got strength from hints that the European authorities will be able to address the problems and utilize the euro zone bail-out fund. Foreign exchange dealers said that the gains should be short term as there is still uncertainty in the global economy.

Positive performance by some Asian and domestic shares helped reduce pressure on Rupee, which has become the worst performing currency in Asia in recent months. The rupee rose by 30 paise to close at a one-week high of Rs 51.95/96 against the dollar in the previous trading secession.
