India May Become the Largest Market for Financing Soon: Exim Bank ChairmanThe US Export-Import (Exim) Bank has been expecting India to become the largest market for financing in the coming one and a half year.

US Exim Bank Chairman and President, Fred Hochberg said, “India is Exim Bank’s largest portfolio in Asia and second largest in the world, and the way it is going, it is anticipated that India would soon become the largest portfolio for the bank”.

Hochberg stated that the Exim Bank will be providing a loan of $25 million for the two upcoming solar-energy projects, among which one investment will be in India’s National Solar Mission. Infrastructure and renewable energy will be the two most important sectors were the bilateral partnership of the two countries will strengthen.

The bank has been encouraging the Indian companies to deal with the US as the Indo-US bilateral trade has been increasing from past 10 years. India has reached the 12th position of largest trading partner of the US however it was on 25th position in the year 2000, Hochberg said.

Exim bank has signed a $5 billion deal with Reliance last year for buying U. S.-manufactured equipment for power projects.

The bank has been in talks with Air India as well, to provide the funding for 27 Boeing aircrafts.
