India, a country with talents

Seagate Technology Inc.As reports suggest, a nanotechnology student from Chennai, R. Shivaraman, has been offered a package of Rs. 1.4 crore by computer hardware maker Seagate Technology Inc.

Shivaraman, who feels exhilarated at this moment, has gained himself a position of "Associate Scientist" at the US-based Corporation. Credentials of this scholar include a joint patent held with C. Gopalakrishnan for an innovation that enables a hard drive to store a capacity of 30 TB of information against the current storage of 500 GB.

However he is still in the process to get the patent rights. Shivaraman further told IANS, "Polymer-template lithography process allows fabrication of patterned magnetic media with density of around 30 TB".

He further added that the technology for storage is very much there in the market, but the only difference is the fabrication of the hard drives that brings in the transition.

As per him, he has just brought in an engineering solution to the problem. Using his technology eight hard drives can be made in just a minute's time.
