India Awaits Switzerland’s Decision for DTAAIt is not that Indian Ministry is not keen on evading corruption from the country, but it is waiting for the Switzerland's approval for the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA), said Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in Lok Sabha.

The agreement would enable the government to know the bank deposits in the bank. The deal is expected to be accepted by the Switzerland by October. Finance Minister further said that the agreement has been approved by the both houses of the Swiss Parliament, and is now under consideration of cantons (member-States of Switzerland).

Strong measures seems to be taking place to deface the corruptors, Mr. Mukherjee said the DTAA agreement has been accepted by the four countries, who would share their bank information with them and treaty with 13 more countries is on the slit of Indian government.

Explaining the importance of Tax Information Exchange Agreement (TIEA), Mukherjee said some of the countries work as a tax shelter for black money but with the treaty it won’t happen.

Talking on the disinvestment front, Mukherjee owed to the global recession and developmental expenditure, saying that the profits attained from disinvestment has been spent under special provision. But he also revealed no fresh proposals for disinvestment has been under consideration.
