Imran Khan challenges Zardari to contest by-election against him

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran KhanLahore, May 2 : Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan has challenged Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to contest a by-election against him to evaluate his party's mandate regarding the restoration of sacked judges in Pakistan.

The Daily Times quoted sources as saying that Khan was responding to Zardari's statement that the PPP's campaign is not based on the judges' issue.

"The mandate of political parties, which contested the February 18 polls in Pakistan, was based on the issue of the restoration of the sacked judges," Khan said.

"It was wrong to say that the PPP had been voted in for its slogan of food, clothing and shelter, and not for the judges' issue," he added.

Khan further said that the by-poll should be taken as a referendum on the judges' issue. (ANI)
