iGate’s sacked CEO Murthy denies sexual harassment chargesDisgraced Phaneesh Murthy, former president and chief executive of iGates Corp, has claimed that neither had he violated any company policy nor he was involved in any sexual harassment of his subordinate.

Fremont, California-based software services firm iGate Corp on Tuesday terminated the employment of Murthy with immediate effect over undisclosed relationship with an employee of the company.

Araceli Roiz, head of investor relations at the company, had alleged that Murthy had been harassing her sexually. The company sacked Murthy following an internal report in the issue.

Murthy admitted that he had a relationship with the women, but denied any sexual harassment.

Speaking to reporters, Murthy said, "I do believe the charges [of sexual harassment] are incorrect... I do not believe I have violated any company policy... It was not sexual harassment; it was a few months of relationship."

He also claimed that he had spoken to the company's chairman about the relationship.

This is not the first time when 49-year-old Murthy has been found involved in sexual harassment against an employee. Nearly a decade back, he was found guilty of sexual harassment against a subordinate at Infosys. At that time, he had settled the case out of court for $3 million.
