I am not targeting any political party: Hazare

I am not targeting any political party: Hazare Ralegan Siddhi (Maharashtra), Oct 7 : Emphasising that he is targeting any specific person or political party, veteran social activist Anna Hazare has said that he has been targeting the evil inside lawmakers belonging to various political parties.

After performing the traditional burning of demon king Ravana''s effigy on the occasion of Dussehra here, Hazare said: "The lawmakers belonging to different political parties have the same ideology of Ravana. We have been protesting against this mentality and thinking. We are not targeting any specific person or political party but rather the bad mentality."

"We burn the effigy of Ravana every year. It is good that by setting Ravana''s effigy on fire, people will remember that he was an evil person," he added.

Congress Party had earlier accused Anna Hazare of playing politics on the issue of corruption by constantly slamming parties and lawmakers.

Senior Congress leader Subodh Kant Sahay warned Hazare that his credibility is being questioned for constantly targeting the government and other political parties.

"Anna Hazare has raised a common problem faced by everyone. We respect the concerns of the common man. However, if Anna Hazare tries to play a political part by constantly accusing Congress party or any other political outfit, his credibility will take a beating," Sahay said.

Hazare, who spearheaded a nationwide storm against corruption a few months ago, had threatened to campaign against Congress in five poll-bound state, if his version of the Lokpal Bill was not passed in the upcoming winter session of Parliament

He even questioned the ruling government''s intention to ensure a corruption-free India, as it had failed to introduce an effective ant-graft bill to combat corruption so far. (ANI)
