Hyundai targeting a 15% growth in 2010
Country's second-largest carmaker, Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) recently said that it is targeting a growth of close to 15% in the domestic market in the current calendar year. According to Arvind Saxena, Director - Sales & Marketing, Hyundai Motors India, the company expects the automobile market in India to grow by 15-18% in 2010 and the company is hoping to grow by a similar number in order to retain its market share in the Indian market.
It is to be mentioned here that the company sold close to 5.6 lakh units, including exports. While the domestic sales stood at close to 2.9 lakhs, the remaining units for the last year were contributed by the exports for the company in the Indian market.
However, Saxena also pointed out the fact that the company is ready fulfill the additional domestic demand that comes on its door and will not be compromising due to a high exposure in the Exports market.
HMIL Managing Director and CEO H W Park said that the company still has enough capacity at its plant in India to cater to the demand of the Indian consumer for the coming few years.
