Huge cache of arms seized from Maoist rebels in Bihar
Patna, Nov 11 : Bihar Police today seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Maoist rebels hiding at Akbarpur village of Makhdumpur block in Jahanabad district.
According to police, after getting a tip-off, they conducted a raid at Chandradeep Yadav''s house in Akbarpur village of Makhdumpur block in Jahanabad district and seized huge quantity of explosives.
Chandradeep Yadav has been taken into custody.
"The investigation is going on to find out for what reasons these explosives were to be used. Two men have been arrested in the case. It''s a high quality explosive. Ninety pieces of detonators, around 30 metre of fire wire and 60 kilograms of explosives have been seized, which will be examined in the laboratory, " said Manu Maharaja, Jahanabad’s Superintendent of Police.
Jahanabad is the headquarters of one of the 14 Naxalite-infected districts out of the 40 districts in the state.
Almost 200 Maoists had mounted an unprecedented attack on a jail in Jahanabad in 2006 and freed several Maoists rebel prisoners.
The Maoists are highly active across a wide swathe of India, including the states of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand and West Bengal. They are also active in some areas of Orissa, Maharashtra and Karnataka. (ANI)
