Honda SIEL to expand its Powertrain facility
Honda Siel Cars India, leading manufacturer of premium cars in India recently said that the company will be investing close to rs. 250 crore with a view to, expand its power train facility in its Tapukara Plant in Rajasthan.
Moreover, the company also pointed out the fact that the unit is currently under construction and will be completed by the end of 2010. it may be noted here that the unit will be utilized to manufacture several vital engine & transmission components such as Cylinder Head and Cylinder Block - which were till now being imported from Indonesia and Thailand. The company currently produces Crankshaft and Connecting rods for its Greater Noida plant and for export purposes at its Tapukara unit.
Takashi Nagai, President and CEO, HSCI, said that the plan to expand the unit will help the company in gaining advantage from the low-cost manufacturing advantage in the country.
Moreover, Nagai also pointed out the fact that the plan will also make the company future ready. It is also believed that the expansion will help the company in gaining high level of localization for its upcoming small car.
