Historic Space Launch Prepared By China
The latest manned mission taken up by China, is being termed a remarkable step towards success for the country, as it is being hoped that this mission besides marking the first spacewalk for the nation, will also help in making a permanent space station base.
Tonight, a Shenzhou-VII capsule will blast into the space carrying three yuhangyuan" (astronauts). It will do so on board the Long-March II-F rocket from the Jiuquan spaceport in Gansu province in the northwest China.
The flight will last approximately 70 hours, and the mission will have the first ever spacewalk by a Chinese astronaut, the task undertaken by 42-year-old fighter pilot Zhai Zhigang. The other two astronaut are Liu Boming and Jing Haipeng.
Zhai reported at a press conference before the rockets were boarded, “As astronauts, it is our utmost honour to be able to represent our motherland and trek into space. It's not a mere addition of numbers from Shenzhou V, VI to VII. The Shenzhou VII mission is a new breakthrough and major leap in China’s space exploration; it is a glorious mission that has historic implications.
It has also been learnt that Russian Experts have lend a supporting hand and will support China for the success of their most ambitious spaceflight.
