Hero Moto confident of retaining its leadership in Indian market
Hero MotoCorp managing director & chief executive Pawan Munjal has expressed confidence that the two-wheeler maker would not only be able to retain its leadership but also further increase its market share in India.
Since its separation from its Japanese joint venture partner Honda Motors in December 2010, Hero MotoCorp has been suffering a gradual decline in its market share, as Honda is making steady inroads in the two-wheeler market.
Hero MotoCorp is now trying to regain its lost market share by launching a slew of indigenously produced two-wheelers.
In a recent interview, he said, "I am confident of not just retaining our leadership, but also of taking our market share to an all time high by exceeding our previous best. We are sure of gaining market share even beyond 50%."
He added that his confidence was based on the company's investments in new technology, products, people empowerment and the company's global expansion.
Mr. Munjal also revealed the company's plans to set up new factories in Mexico, Brazil and Colombia. Previously, the company was prohibited from making international investments as part of an agreement with its erstwhile joint venture partner Honda Motors.
