‘Hello’, A Call Unlikely To Get Through
Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘One Night @ A Call Center’ might have created waves across the nation, making it one of the Bestsellers but the adaptation of the same into a movie seems to be a failed attempt.
‘Hello’ which hit the cinemas on 10th October, promised to bring the novel on screen but failed in its attempt to do so. Sloppy direction and screenplay disappointed the viewers. It is Atul Agnihotri’s second venture as a director after the 2004 release of “Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa” (starring Salman Khan and Preity Zinta). The earlier movie, though was a blow at the Box Office, this one can manage to survive for a little while owing to some good performances from actors.
The movie stars Sohail Khan, Sharman Joshi, Isha Koppikar, Amrita Arora, Gul Panag and Sharat Saxena in main roles with Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Katrina Kaif in special appearances. Hello is a story which centers around six call centre executives working in the same BPO and how one event changes their perspectives towards life overnight.
Sharman Joshi’s role as ‘Shayam’ is worth appreciating and so is Sohail Khan’s who adds humour with his witty comments. Though the other actors have also managed to do justice to their roles, it seems Chetan Bhagat is much better as a novelist than as a screenplay writer. The film is tiring to sit through, and the scene of conversation with God is hardly electrifying. Movie lacks luster mainly because of bad direction. If only some craftsmanship was done in presenting forth the film, it would have left a nicer impact. Overall ‘Hello’ is a call one can manage to avoid.
