The Bengal selectors have named Laxmi Ratan Shukla as the skipper of the Bengal team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy knock-out phase.

However, on the other hand, the East Zone selectors had selected Manoj Tiwary as the skipper for the East Zone team for the next month's Deodhar Trophy.

With this, it becomes clear that there is a divide among the Bengal and zonal selectors over the selection of skipper.

Meanwhile, commenting over this issue, L R Shukla said, “It doesn’t matter who leads the team. I have no problems playing under Manoj (Tiwary) in the Deodhar Trophy. Here, I am the captain and Manoj will play under me…it’s the teamwork that matters.”

Earlier, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly, who played a vital role in Bengal’s triumph at the East Zone qualifiers last year, has informed the CAB about his unavailability for the knock-out phase.

The Vijay Hazare matches would be held in Agartala from February 28-March9.

The Bengal team will leave for Agartala on March 2 for Vijay Hazare Trophy.
