Havells Enters Health Sector, Expects 2000 Crore Revenue

QRG Enterprises, the parent company of Havells India has diversified its Havellsbusiness by entering into healthcare sector. The company has recently acquired 70 % stake in Central Hospital and Research Centre (CHRC).

The Faridabad-based CHRC is a 140 bed super specialty hospital and offers specialty care in neurosurgery, plastic surgery, knee & joint replacement surgery, non invasive cardiology, orthopedics etc.

Qimat Rai Gupta, CMD, QRG Enterprises said, "The acquisition marks the beginning of our entry into the healthcare segment. We have spent over Rs 20 crore for the acquisition and are investment an equal amount in expanding the existing facilities in the hospital. In the next phase, we are likely to go for more such facilities.”

Sanjeev Gupta, head of operations, Central Hospital said, "other than oncology and cardiac care, the Central Hospital provides all other super specialties. Our next step would be to add those services also in near future.”

On the other hand, Havells India Ltd expects 2007/08 sales to rise 29 % from a year ago riding strong demand from the housing sector and industrial growth.

Anil Gupta, Joint Managing Director said, “We expect to achieve a turnover of Rs 2,000 crore this fiscal on a standalone basis. Last year, we did Rs 1,550 crore. Sylivania will add Rs 3,000 crore.”

Havells India is setting up a plant at Naimrana, Rajasthan at an initial investment of Rs 80 crore. It had planned a capex of Rs 200 crore this fiscal, of which Rs 150 crore has already been spent, he added.

The Delhi-based firm had made the country's largest ever acquisition of the Dutch-based SLI Sylvenia's lighting business in the electrical product segment for USD 300 million in April this year.

According to the JMD, Havells India made a profit of Rs 70 crore in the first half of this financial year.

The stock of Havells India closes today at Rs. 634.80 on NSE , up by 0.47 % or Rs. 2.95  from the previous close of  Rs. 631.85. It touched an intraday high of Rs. 649.70 and low of Rs. 630.00.
