Haier Appliances (India) Pvt. Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of $16.2-billion Chinese home durables giant, is planning to enter new segments like commercial refrigeration, water heaters and commercial ACs in India.

The company plans to enter these three new segments before the end of 2008.

Haier is also in talks to acquire manufacturing facilities for its existing businesses in India. The company is also planning to increase its capacity by three times at the Pune plant, which it got after acquiring Daewoo Anchor last year.

At present, the company has a capacity to make 3.5 lakh refrigerators per annum, which it wants to increase to 10 lakh refrigerators per annum.
