Hadron Collider repairs cost £14m

Large Hadron ColliderA whopping sum of almost £14m ($21m) would be required to repair the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) near Geneva and it will not start up until at least next summer.

Back in the month of September, the £3.6bn ($6.6bn) machine was shut due to an electrical failure

It came as a surprise to the European Organization for Nuclear Research (Cern), when they leant that the damage caused was quite serious, where earlier they had thought that it would only be out of action until November.

It is being expected that by May or early June, repairs would be completed and the machined would resume back to work by the end of June or may be later.

"If we can do it sooner; all well and good. But I think we can do it realistically (in) early summer," reported Cern spokesman James Gillies.
