Google explains the need of ‘search’ revampGoogle has stated that the need for revamp has been introduced with an intention to cure the 'rising expectations for search' among internet users.

Google explained this through its blog that designers had spent a great deal of time in developing the left-sided smart navigation panel that caters to proffer a list of additional search based functions that aid in ease of searching without shaking attention of the users from the primary ones.

It came from a blog-post from Senior User Experience Designer with Google, Jon Wiley, who said, "As the web has evolved over the past decade, people have been typing more sophisticated searches and seeking out specialized search tools to match." It was further revealed through the blog that designers at Google had been testing the navigation panel since 2006 and claim this tool to be an excellent source to provide enhanced search results.

Google explained that the updation process took off grounds from May when it launched its Search Options Panel, designed to separate the search results into categories.
