Google agrees to end investigations of illegal ads Internet giant, Google has agreed to forfeit $500 million in profits from advertisements for Canadian pharmacies that targeted consumers in the United States through ieelgal ads, according to an accouchement made by US Department of Justice last week.

Interestingly, the investigations have also shown evidence that Google CEO, Larry Page knew about the illegal ads. The DOJ has also agreed to not make the emails, which shows that Mr. knew about the ads, public to protect his reputation.

Peter Neronha, the US Attorney from Rhode Island said, "Larry Page knew what was going on. We know it from the investigation. We simply know it from the documents we reviewed, witnesses that we interviewed, that Larry Page knew what was going on."

The DOJ has not only received the $500 million settlement but also an admission of guilt by Google. The company agreed that it let Canadian pharmaceutical firms attract US customers through ads, which were illegal.

In a statement, Google only said that the matter is settles and admitted that it should no have allowed the ads to appear on its service.
