GM to recall 162,000 Hummers, 40,000 CorvettesDetroit-based auto giant General Motors has decided to recall 162,000 units of its sports-utility vehicle Hummer H3 and 40,000 units of Chevrolet Corvettes.

While Hummer H3 recall is for a problem in the SUVs hood that threatens to detach the hood when the vehicle is on move, Chevrolet Corvettes is recalled for a defect in the model's steering that could cause unintended pull to the right or left.

As per a filing by the National highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the problem noticed in the particular Hummer model could cause severe damages if the SUV's hood gets detached while the vehicle is on move and hits a following vehicle.

GM, in the meanwhile, has asked its dealers to use a particular adhesive so that the hood is kept closed. The Hummer recall includes selected units of the particular model sold between year 2006 and 2010.

The recalled Corvettes units include vehicles sold between 2005 and 2006.

Earlier, in March this year GM was forced to recall 1.3 million units of Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5s for certain problems founts in the models' power-steering.
