Former NBA star Rogers reportedly paralyzed in mishap

Los Angeles  - Rodney Rogers, who starred in college and played in the NBA for 12 seasons, is paralyzed from the shoulders down as a result of an all-terrain vehicle accident, the News & Observer of Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, reported Thursday.

Dave Odom, who coached Rogers for four years at Wake Forest University, told the newspaper that his former All-America forward is paralyzed from the shoulders down.

"Say a prayer for Rodney and his family," Odom told the newspaper.

Organizers of an exhibition match between Beckham's LA Galaxy side and Oceania All Stars XI on Saturday in Auckland were advertising two tickets for the price of one to try to fill the 32,000-seat Mount Smart Stadium.

Only 14,000 tickets had been sold by Thursday night, the New Zealand Herald reported.

Madrid  - Spanish football has always taken pride in avoiding the kind of match-fixing scandals that have so afflicted Italy and other countries.

No major players have ever been banned, let alone jailed, and no clubs have ever been relegated for fixing results.

There have occasionally been rumours and whispers of attempted bribery, but practically nothing has ever reached the public domain.

Until now, that is.

This week La Liga has been shaken up by two separate allegations of match-fixing.
