Police protect Italian author Saviano and Rushdie

Roberto SavianoStockholm - Italian author Roberto Saviano and British- Indian author Salman Rushdie were due Tuesday to discuss "Freedom of speech and lawless violence" in Stockholm's Old Town.

Both authors have been threatened for their writings and were under police protection. The discussion was organized by the Swedish Academy, the body that selects the Nobel literature prize.

The Academy said some 450 people were to attend the discussion Tuesday evening.

Indo-Pak Home Secretary-level talks commenced

India, PakistanIslamabad, Nov 25 : The fifth round of Home Secretary level talks between India and Pakistan on terrorism, drug trafficking and related issues commenced in Islamabad on Tuesday as a part of the composite dialogue process.

Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta led the Indian delegation, while Secretary, Ministry of Interior Syed Kamal Shah, headed the Pakistan delegation.

The talks would continue on Wednesday also.

OECD sees future recovery for Estonian economy

Despite not being a full member of the OECD, Estonia is singled out for examination as a selected non-member country.

After more than a decade of rapid economic growth, the small Baltic nation is now in recession, but the OECD suggests growth will return in around a year's time.

Croatia FootballZagreb- Branko Ivankovic has quit as coach of quit Croatian football champions Dinamo Zagreb, two days before a big UEFA Cup game against Spartak Moscow, the club said on Tuesday.

"We talked daily and decided that the path we were heading is not good so we decided mutually to go separate ways. We just weren't happy - neither the club nor the coach," Dinamo's sport director Zoran Mamic told journalists in Zagreb.
