Iran's prosecutor demands death sentence for Mossad-linked agents

IranTehran - Iran's public prosecutor has demanded the death sentence for three Iranian agents allegedly linked Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, ISNA news agency reported Tuesday.

Saeid Mortazavi said that the three were trained in Tel Aviv but were arrested before they could start any operations.

Mortazavi said that the initial court demanded the death sentence for the three Iranian agents, ISNA reported.

A death sentence issued by the court should first be confirmed by the Supreme Court before the execution can take place.

Two killed, four wounded in clashes with al-Qaeda suspects

IraqBaghdad - Two people were killed and another four wounded on Tuesday when clashes erupted between residents and armed men suspected of belonging to al-Qaeda, a police source said.

The clashes erupted between residents of the al-Ahrash district in the northern Sulaymaniyah province and gunmen. Town residents had accused the gunmen of kidnapping a local farmer.

Two of the wounded belonged to the Sunni tribal Awakening councils, also known as sons of Iraq, who collaborated with the US in fighting against al-Qaeda militias, the source said.

FIFA said in a statement that a contract with the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON) will ensure free-to-air TV coverage and radio broadcasts of all 64 World Cup games in South Africa.

World Cup organizing committee chief Danny Jordaan welcomed the announcement as "another major milestone" which was completed "well ahead of schedule.
