Melbourne, December 17 : Supporters of German sports club Bayern Munich are boycotting Keanu Reeves'' `The Day The Earth Stood Still' after seeing their stadium being blasted by aliens in the new science fiction thriller.

The trailer of the movie had raged soccer fans after it was aired on the club''s giant TV screens, depicting the Allianz Arena stadium being blown to bits by aliens.

The club's media director Markus Hoerwick said that they had no idea about the scene until it was screened in the match-day trailer.

Beijing - Chinese naval ships will join UN-led efforts to combat piracy off the coast of Somalia, state media said on Wednesday.

"There will be a significant peacekeeping operation (for China)," the official China Daily quoted an unidentified military source as saying.

The foreign ministry quoted Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei as telling a UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday in New York that China was "actively considering" a naval deployment in the region.

Hanoi - Vietnamese police arrested three people on charges of running counterfeit money from China to Vietnam, a police official said Wednesday.

The three were arrested Wednesday morning in Hanoi's Tay Ho district. Police found 300 million dong (17,000 dollars) in counterfeit 500,000 dong bills hidden in their clothes.

"It took us about one month to break the ring," said Colonel Nguyen Ba Hung, director of Tay Ho's police department.

Melbourne, Dec 17 : Joining a chorus of critics who have panned Baz Luhrmann''s outback epic `Australia' is feminist Germaine Greer, who has branded the film a `disaster'.

Writing in Britain''s The Guardian newspaper, Greer described the film as a "fraudulent and misleading fantasy", designed to promote the Federal Government''s policy of reconciliation.

Greer has pointed out what she claims are several historical inaccuracies about how Aborigines were treated in 1939, when the film was set.

Chandigarh, Dec. 17 : England coach Peter Moores has defended the bowling of Monty Panesar, who failed to nab wicket in India's second innings in the Chennai Test that concluded on Monday.

"I have sympathy for Monty. He probably hasn''t played in a competitive game for three months. We didn''t have a warm-up game and that is difficult for a spinner who wants to bowl some overs in match conditions," The Independent quoted Moores, as saying.
