Gaza City - An Israeli airstrike on a mosque in the northern Gaza Strip killed 11 people late Saturday afternoon, and wounded 50 others, 24 of them seriously, Palestinian sources reported.

An Israeli military spokesman had no immediate comment on the report, which comes on the eighth day of an Israeli offensive, mainly conducted through aerial attacks on the Gaza Strip.

A second airstrike on Rafah, at the southern end of the Strip, killed four people, Palestinians said, bringing the death toll from Israeli operations Saturday to 19 Palestinians.

Estimates of those taking part in the demonstration in London ranged between 6,000 and 10,000. Witnesses said around 1,000 shoes were thrown at the fence protecting the Downing Street entrance to the residence of Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

The shoe-hurling - an extreme insult in Arab culture - was reminiscent of that by an Iraqi reporter targeting US President George W Bush at a press conference in Baghdad last month.

South Korean opposition MPs in scuffle in parliament over draft laws Seoul  - Opposition lawmakers and security guards clashed in South Korea's parliament on Saturday during a sit-in by the members of parliament (MPs) and their supporters, according to media reports.

A scuffle erupted as more than 150 guards tried to clear the main meeting room of the National Assembly in Seoul of several lawmakers and their supporters.

The official Yonhap news agency said one MP and about 20 aides and guards were lightly injured.

In his interaction with Nowzari, Gilani said Pakistan has consistently and unequivocally offered unreserved support to the Palestinian cause and supports the establishment of an independent state of Palestine with Al Quds Sharif as its capital.

West Bengal reports fresh outbreak of bird flu

West BengalSiliguri (West bengal), Jan. 3 :Health and veterinary workers in West Bengal''s Siliguri region have started culling poultry birds after a reports of a fresh outbreak of the H5N1 virus that layman terms translates into bird flu.

The main epicenter of the flu has been fixed at Binay Krishna Pally off Siliguri in the District of Darjeeling. The latest outbreak of the virus in poultry is the fourth in West Bengal since 2007.

Bird flu first broke out in India in 2006 and millions of chicken and ducks had been culled to contain the virus.
