With gain in dollar index, grain futures go higher

With gain in dollar index, grain futures go higherAs U. S. equity markets wavered and the dollar index rose 0.44 percent, prices closed higher on the Chicago Board of Trade on Tuesday.

Corn was up 6 1/2 to up 6 3/4, soybeans were up 3 1/4 to up 5 1/2, wheat was up 1/2 to up 1 1/4 and oats were up 2 1/4 to up 2 1/2.

It has been reported that corn futures rose as the U. S. Department of Agriculture said lowered its stock estimate by 161 million bushels from April.

Wheat stockpiles were pegged at above expectations at 997 million bushels.

It was further reported that old crop soybean stockpiles were unchanged from a month ago at 190 million bushels. (With Inputs from Agencies)
