Free of cost checkups at corporation labs says Mayor
In a step that has never been taken before, Chennai Corporation shall be offering free dialysis to patients along with chronic kidney sickness at 2 of its laboratories in Valluvar Kottam and Perambur. Every clinic shall have 2 haemodialysis machinery, technicians, doctors, and assistants.
The company’s strategy to build up exclusive dialysis centres at a predictable cost of Rs 50 lakh is expected to help out 25,000 patients. Lot of patients with kidney failure felt it very tough to pay for weekly checkups. The labs shall be serving 4 to 5 patients per day.
They advised that people should make appointments in advance as expressed by mayor S Subramanian at the monthly council assembles in Ripon Buildings on Friday. The plan was launched in the budget in March. The consumables, reagents and extra materials shall be costing the exchequer Rs 18 lakh.
Patients suffering with chronic renal failure in which the kidney is not able to filter body fluids. While a dialysis process, the fluid is moved on to a machine that acts as a healthy kidney. As told by the doctors, there are no less than
1,000 fresh patients in the city wanting dialysis each year.
