Fathers Play An Important Role In Child’s Life
According to a new study, if a father spends more time with his child, then the child become more intelligent and successful in life. The level of intelligence and the professional career that a child develops depends on many factors like education, peer group, home and the external environment in which they grow up.
The Daily Telegraph reported, “Children who spend large amounts of time with their fathers have higher IQs.” It also said, researchers in Britain have carried out a study and found the involvement of a father in the child’s early life can also affect their career prospects. Lead researcher Dr. Daniel Nettle said, “The (study's) data suggests that having a second adult involved during childhood produces benefits in terms of skills and abilities that endure throughout adult life”.
The study was done by Dr Nettle and colleagues at Newcastle University, and for the study they involved more than 11,000 British men and women, born in 1958, ‘The Daily Telegraph’ reported. For the study they asked the mothers of the subjects how often the father took part in activities of their child including reading, playing and in spending quality time.
The study found that the fathers of higher socioeconomic groups spend more time with their children as compare to the fathers of lower socioeconomic groups. Research also indicated that fathers become more involved with their sons than with daughters.
The involvement of fathers actually affects child IQ and mobility. Those children had a higher IQ and were more socially mobile who got more attention of their father than those children who got less involvement of father in their life
Dr. Nettle said, “What was surprising about this research was the real sizeable difference in the progress of children who benefited from paternal interest and how 30 years later, people whose dads were involved are more upwardly mobile.”
