Fate of the three-year medical course undecided
The Delhi High Court has questioned the government on a petition seeking a three-year course on primary health to permit non-MBBS doctors to practice in rural areas.
An effort involving the efforts of the Chief Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice Mukta Gupta led the government to file a detailed affidavit mentioning if it has acknowledged the recommendations given by the Central Council for Health and the Task Force which suggested a three-year course for all the medical practitioners.
This was refuted by the Medical Council of India (MCI), which refused to accept all the norms of the Task Force.
It will be filing an affidavit soon.
According to a Public Health Specialist, Meenakshi Gautham, a person can look for modern medicine only after MBBS. This was in-sync with Task Force recommendations.
