Family seeks justice on Darbar's death

They say body samples of Jaitun be sent to a certified lab, also approach CP

Seeking answers to the cause behind Jaitun Darbar's death, the members of the Darbar family have demanded that blood, body and viscera samples of the deceased be checked at a certified laboratory.

Jaitun Darbar, mother of noted music director Ismail Darbar, had died on February 12 while undergoing treatment at Girish Group of Hospitals.

Darbar was admitted for more than three weeks and even sustained burns due to doctors' negligence during her treatment. Family members had blamed the hospital for Darbar's death and even lodged a complaint at Athwa police station

The family has also asked the police to add section 304 of IPC in the case registered at Athwa police station against Girish Shah and his team. In an application submitted to officials of new civil hospital on Wednesday, the Darbar family has asked to test the samples collected during post mortem at certified forensic laboratories to ascertain real cause of Darbar's death.

Now, during panel post mortem, deposits of blood and water were found inside the stomach and samples of blood, body and viscera were sent for investigation. Apart from hospital authorities, an application was also given to police commissioner demanding a fair investigation in the case. Saheda Darbar, daughter of Jaitun Darbar, said that when Darbar was admitted to hospital, she was suffering from fever and urine infection, but she developed more problems during treatment. Doctors gave an overdose of sleeping pills which led to serious complexions.

"Police have registered complaint only against Dr Paresh Bhajiyawala and nurse Chinchi in the case. They should also add names of hospital authorities, Girish Shah, Anil Patel, Ketan Desai and panel of doctors who were involved in Darbar's treatment. We have also demanded that section 304 of IPC be added in the complaint," Darbar added.
