Ex-Satyam founder Raju and four accomplices give specimen signatures to CBI Complying with the legal orders pertaining to specimen signatures, based on a petition filed by the CBI, the scandal-plagued founder of Satyam Computer Services, B Ramalinga Raju and his four accomplices in the Rs. 7000 crore swindling at the IT company, have furnished their signatures on Thursday. All of the accused are currently in judicial custody.

In the court of the XIV additional chief metropolitan magistrate, the five accused - B Ramalinga Raju; his brother and ex-MD Rama Raju; ex- Chief Financial Officer Vadlamani Srinivas; and two ex-auditors of Price Waterhouse, S Gopalakrishnan and Talluri Srinivas - gave 60 signatures each to the CBI.

With the accused being charge-sheeted for multiple offences - including forgery, fabrication of records, embezzlement of accounts and annihilation of facts, the CBI, which has substantial evidence about documents being counterfeit and accounts being exaggerated, chose to seek their specimen signatures.

It was during the course of the investigations of the Satyam scam that apprehended phony and inflated vouchers, cash memos and other documents, and sought permission from the court to obtain specimen signatures of the accused to tally them with the ones on the forged documents!
