Exposure to Sun can cause Many Problems

Sun exposure is good for skin, but excessive of it or improper care while stepping out in the sun can lead to many problems.

There are many who love the sun. Definitely, it makes you feel good, but long-term exposure can leave the skin wrinkled and with other problems.

Skin color caused due to tanning can mean increased effects of aging and an increased risk of developing skin cancer. Experts affirmed that the sun's ultraviolet light can damage the fibers known as elastin in the skin.

Upon breakage, these fibers can leave skin sagged, stretchy and unable to go back into place after stretching. In young age, the effects might not be visible, but later in life they will be.

Changes in the skin due to the sun exposure include-

"Precancerous and cancerous skin lesions
"Benign tumors
"Wrinkles and freckles
"Mottled pigmentation
"Destruction of the elastic tissue

As per data, skin cancer is the most common type among all the cancers. Mainly, there are three types of skin cancer - basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and carcinoma.

Anyone can have skin cancer, but the one having fair or freckled skin is at the maximum risk. Other risk types are family history of skin cancer, outdoor job and living in a sunny climate. Treatment of skin cancer depends on the type and extent of the disease.

It shall be noted that it is never too late to start protecting yourself from the sun. Experts have suggested using sunscreen having SPF of 30 or more before going out in the sun and then every two to three hours thereafter.
